Enugu state Government house Attacked by unknown gang of 50 Armed gunmen…..




The Enugu state government house was forcefully attacked by an unknown armed gunmen on Saturday morning of which one person has been reportedly killed by the security operatives attached to the Enugu state seat of power, while three others were injured as they forcefully attempted to gain entrance into the Enugu State Government House.
As reported by Vanguard, that although the mission of those gunmen, who were armed with machetes carrying flags with different inscriptions and insignia is yet to be ascertained, “the men had arrived the Government House at about 4.30am in buses” said an eye withness of the scene.
According to reports, They parked their vehicles along Nza Street and then marched to the Government House gate where they met the security operatives attached to the state seat of power which results to the fight between them and the security.
They reportedly told the security men to open the gate claiming that they were at the Government house on protest, but when one of the (NSCDC) officials opened the gate to ask why they decided to come in the late our of the night, one of the invaders/gunmen  gave him a cut and made attempts to force the gate open for his members to come in.
As the other security operatives sensed danger,they rushed to the scene only to see the gang wielding machetes and asking other of their members to enter the state Government House. Heavy shooting ensued by security operatives, comprising policemen, men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and soldiers who prevented the invaders from gaining entrance into the state Government House.
Governor Sullivan Chime’s chief Security Officer  Mr. Fidelis Ogarabe, DSP, arrived the scene and coordinated his operatives who eventually succeeded in repelling the gunmen after hours of gun fire and pursued them to the other part of Independence Layout in Enugu state.
Meanwhile, one of the gunmen was shot dead while three others who tied red bands on their arms, similar to Bakassi Boys, operating in some South East states were arrested. The others escaped, some with bullet wounds. And, from the gang were recovered Several machetes.

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sullivan Chime, Mr. Chukwudi Achife on  Reacting to the development, made a report on how the gang forcefully invaded the state government house at about 4:30am on Saturday and how the attackers were immediately engaged by the security operatives who shot one person and arrested three: Although, one security operatives was injured during the shot out.
He also added that those ones arrested were recovered with some of the weapons which includes machetes and guns.. and  have since been handed over to the Enugu State Police Command for further probing.
